The UK Loans Market Gets Competitive

Friday, November 16th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Grant_Marwick]Grant Marwick As if the UK debt market isnt at busting point already, there are several Loan companies vying for new customers and the year has just begun. January is the busiest month of the year for loan applications so it is basically a feeding frenzy for the loan companies. What is the UK debt situation going to look like at the end of the year? Personal loan rates are dropping all the time and at the time of this article being written one of the more competitive rates being promoted in the market is 5.5%. This applies to loans from as little as 1,000 to a max of 25,000. On the face of it that looks like a good deal but always remember that most lenders will reserve their best rates for those that are borrowing over 7,000. There is a base rate drop on the cards this year and all the loan companies are factoring this into their rates on offer. The rates may seem attractive but if the interest rates drop then you may be a % point worse off if you have locked yourself into one of these low rate loans now. There are a lot of people that are still paying off their debt from last years Christmas season. The attractive rates on offer at the moment are just going to perpetuate the borrowing cycle. Is this not what the banks want? If you take out a loan you are going to get the hard sell in order to take out payment protection. This is entirely up to the borrower but in many cases it has been shown that the cost of the protection is extremely expensive and should you need to be covered you will find that there are several conditions that apply so beware. Banks make an absolute fortune from this as only a small % of people actually end up having to claim. Think of it this way: You get a loan for 5.5%, you take out payment protection and that extra charge on your card every month in real terms actually pushes your interest rate up by about 0.5%. This means you are actually paying 6%. There has been a lot of press lately about the mis selling of PPC so again be cautious. I wont mention all the companies that are fighting for your business but you can be certain that when you open that magazine you have just bought about 2 lbs in weight of loan brochures will fall from the covers. The general rule of thumb in the industry is that two thirds of all applicants should qualify for the APR advertised but unfortunately only those with excellent credit ratings will get this rate. Others will be hooked into slightly higher rates so what you see advertised is not necessarily what you get. Better Late Than Never - Register Your Published Photographs

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

By Carolyn Wright Theres no doubt that its easier to register your photographs before you publish them. But if you didn’t get it done then, it’s better late than never to register your published images. The good news is that its more convenient and cheaper than ever to register your photographs after they have been published. Pursuant to a recent change in copyright law, you now can register a group of published images on one form. The only requirements are that the photos must have been published in the same year, made by the same photographer and have the same copyright claimant. This should fit the profile of most photographers and their work. Another beneficial change in the law is that group registration of published images currently requires only one deposit or copy of the image. Previously, you had to submit two of the actual published copies. Now you can register your published images on one form, with only one deposit, one application and one filing fee, as long as they meet the above requirements. Specific instructions on how to prepare your registration forms for published photographs are available from the Picture Archive Council of America at http://www.pacaoffice.org/copyright.html in The Importance of Copyright Registration You no longer have an excuse. Go to the dentist, change the oil in your car, and register your images, both unpublished and published. Its better late than never. Take my advice; get professional help. How Does Subconscious Weight Loss Work?

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

By Chris Looi Obesity has now become a pandemic for both adults and children and although there are numerous pills, drinks and diet plans on offer today that promise you will lose weight the end result is consequential and in some cases you will end up gaining weight instead. Like most people you have spent countless years on different diet programs and the cost of this has been exorbitant and even if you lost weight initially it soon all came back. So how does subconscious weight loss actually work and how can it help? Whilst scientists are still trying to find the cause as well as a cure for obesity there is a scientific method which has proven to be successful although it has not been revealed to the general public. But to put it simply the best method to achieve weight loss lies within a person’s mind and is known as subliminal messaging. It should be remembered that the subconscious mind is always aware and has unlimited power and once tapped into it can produce results unlike any other form of treatment. So how can subliminal messaging change a person’s behavior? There is a theory around that subliminal messages gain power as they bypass the action of the conscious mind and this allows messages or suggestive thoughts to enter the subconscious without any verbal commands. So by using subliminal software such as Mindflasher you are not only introducing specific words to your subconscious but you are also persuading it to act upon these words. Unfortunately weight gain affects everyone and it requires focus, vigilance and constant effort on your part in order to keep it off. It is not only frustrating, time consuming, expensive but in some cases can be dangerous. So how can subliminal messaging achieve what other products haven’t been able to do? The answer is quite simple in that the power of subliminal message sofware is proven to foster results and allows us to achieve success in all areas of our lifes which also includes weight loss. This software can be automatically incorporated into the words on your computer and whilst you are surfing the net or checking emails your subconscious will focus on the words that are displayed and then store them in its memory bank. Then these words will spill over into your conscious mind and your goals will then be realized (and your eyes do not even need to see these words). So remember why not give subconscious weight loss a chance and remember you have the power within you, all you need to do is tap into that power and it will change your life for the better. Relationship Advice: 3 Kinds of Love

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

By Jeff Herring There are three kinds of love: love as a feeling, love as a decision/choice, and love as an action. The confusion of these three kinds of love is the cause of much needless pain and suffering. In an attempt to clear up this confusion, let’s take a closer look at each of these three kinds of love. Love as a feeling. Oh, what a feeling. Let’s face it, falling in love feels great. So does being in love. Throughout the centuries, poets, writers and singers have all extolled the glories of being in love. Only problem is that it doesn’t last. Sorry to bring you back to Earth with such a jolt, but let’s be honest. The emotional high that we feel just doesn’t last on a day-to-day basis. Remember the phrase “and they lived happily ever after”? Even though this phrase can be found at the end of most fairy tales, our culture seems to have accepted it as fact. “Well,” you might be saying at this point, “aren’t we sounding cynical today.” Maybe so, but if you’ll hang in there with me, reader, it’s going to get better really quick. It’s natural and normal for the feeling of love to ebb and flow in a relationship. That’s why it’s so important to understand that in addition to love as a feeling there are two other kinds of love. Love as a decision/choice Love is also a decision and a choice. There are times when we do not feel like loving in any way. In relationships, however, we are called to love even when we don’t feel like it (sometimes especially when we don’t feel like it). Authors Gary Smalley and John Trent said: “Every enduring marriage involves a commitment to an imperfect person.” What this means on a day-to-day basis is this: We may sometimes say to ourselves when thinking about our partner, “You know, I really don’t like you very much today.” Then this needs to be followed by, “and I’m going to love you anyway.” The choice and decision to love, even when we don’t feel like it provides the sense of security necessary in a relationship to make it through the inevitable rough waters. Love as an action In addition to being a feeling and a choice, love is also a verb. We can have the feeling of love, we can decide to love, we can understand all that there is to understand about our relationship, but we won’t get very far until we take action. Some couples I have worked with are very good at describing what is wrong with the relationship and/or the other person. It reminds me of what actor and comedian Lily Tomlin once said: “I personally believe we developed language because of our deep need to complain.” One of the biggest myths about marriage goes something like this: “If you really loved me, then you would (know what to do, know what to say, know what I like, etc.).” Nothing could be further from the truth. Instead of complaining about our partner’s behavior, we can simply ask for (request) what we would like. Sometimes that will be a request to do something. Other times it may be a request not to do something. It goes something like this: “I would like you to (fill in the blank).” Then your partner gets to say either “Yes, I can do that” or “No, I won’t do that, because (fill in the blank). What else could I do that would meet that need?” In this way, we can put hands and feet onto the feeling of love. The really curious thing is that when we decide to love and take action in this way, it can lead us back to that feeling of love. Love, Appreciation, and the Heart

Monday, November 12th, 2007

By Lorna Minewiser As I started to write this article a few words from a song kept running through my head all you need is love… This month we will be bombarded with ads for cards and gifts and urgings to show others that we love them. Many religions and traditions exhort us to love one another, to care about others and to appreciate the gifts of life. In both advertising and tradition the heart is the symbol of love. Recent scientific discoveries have found that the heart is actually involved in emotional processing. Messages are sent both ways between brain and heart. The new science of called Neurocardiology has shown that the heart is actually a sensory organ and a sophisticated encoding and processing center. The heart can learn, remember and even make decisions independent of the brain. The emotional processing of the heart operates much more quickly than the linear reasoning process of the mind. This emotional processing can bias or color the cognitive processes. Stress caused by unmanaged emotions can affect the entire body. The research conducted at the Institute of HeartMath has consistently demonstrated that positive emotions such as love and appreciation are the key to optimal functioning. The use of heart rate variability (HRV) measurement equipment provides information on the beat-to-beat changes in heart rate. HRV is very sensitive to changes in emotional state. When people think angry, frustrated, or anxious thoughts an erratic and disordered pattern is shown. When people experience positive emotions like appreciation, love or compassion a much more ordered or coherent pattern is displayed. Obviously it is much healthier for the heart and body to have a coherent heart rate. Fortunately there are easy to learn techniques that can be put into use during stressful times that can help change our habitual responses to stress. Simply remembering to feel appreciation for short periods of time every day can be a first step. The holidays shouldnt be the only time we remember to express our love for others. Tapping into that loving feeling can be good for our hearts as well as for our relationships. Lorna Minewiser, Ph.D has been helping people reduce their stress for more than 15 years. She offers individual and group coaching, workshops, CDs, e-books and Stress Reduction and Relaxation kits. She is available for presentations on the power of beliefs and on Stress Reduction. Decor For Your Sunroom Enclosure

Monday, November 12th, 2007

By Andrew Caxton There are so many reasons why a sunroom makes the perfect addition to your home: from the comfort of an air-conditioned room you can enjoy your garden, the trees, and any birds and animals that come to visit your feeders. Sit idly and watch the clouds flit by in the sky. Stay up late at night and watch the stars, all in comfort. That is what a sunroom will do for you. Interior Design There are a finite style of sunrooms - based on what kind of roof they have: flat, vaulted, split-level, etc. However, there is an infinite way of designing the interior of your sunroom. That is where you can really let your creative juices flow. Give a thought to what you’ll be using your sunroom for. Do you have young children, who will want to use it as a playroom? Will you be entertaining rowdy guys who’ll be playing poker and watching the game? Or it will be a simple retreat, where you go to escape the cares of the day? Wicker is the typical kind of furniture for sunrooms, because it is so light and sturdy. You can get all kinds of furniture made of wicker: chairs, settees, tables, and even book cases. Whatever furniture you choose, it’s a good idea to make the fabric of the cushions a light color. Soft shades pretty much go with anything, and they make the whole room seem lighter and brighter. Wicker Warehouse (www.wickerwarehouse.com/) is a company that specializes in wicker furniture. They have everything you could possibly need from dining sets, serving carts, bars and bar stools, loveseats, chairs and ottomans, rocking chairs, chaise lounges, tables and even plant stands. Other wicker furniture companies on the web include South Sea Rattan and Wicker Furniture (www.southsearattan.com) and Yesteryear Wicker (www.yesteryearwicker.com/) But don’t stop with the traditional wicker furniture sets, no matter how elegant. How about water fountains of various sizes, or perhaps even an aquarium? Balance those out with plenty of green plants to give a real outdoorsy feeling to the place. If you’re not sure how best to furnish your sunroom, you can always hire an interior decorator to help you. But perhaps the best thing to do is visit the websites of the many companies that offer sunrooms, and see how they furnish them. This is bound to give you ideas, and you can quite often order the furniture directly from that company. Andrew Caxton is a consultant who writes on many consumer topics like house additions for http://www.allsunrooms.com . You can find more information and resources on sunroom enclosure at his website. Spice-Up Your Wedding Bouquet

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

By Kenny Yong Are you searching for something unique for your wedding? Anything that could show how stylish, trendy, interesting, and fun-loving you are is most desired. Now, instead of bringing an ordinary usual boring flower wedding bouquet, carry with you exciting, unusual bloom bouquets and offer people something to gossip about. Unusual does not mean that your bouquet will not anymore contain flowers. Of course, it still will. Wedding in the absence of flowers is no wedding at all and is like a garden without blooms. Anyway, there are lots of flower kinds available. Thousands of charming blooms are there to make the romantic touch your nuptial deserves. It is best to regard the various flower meanings and design to a wedding bouquet which is not pretty to the eye but might as well heartily meaningful. You may perhaps regard the time of year. Several blooms are much common in a certain season than to others and so looking for off-season blooms can be tough. On tradition and custom basis, the following are few of the much popular bridal wedding bouquet flowers with their corresponding meanings and season. - Rose (red) means love, year round availability (white) suggest unity, year round (yellow) suggest joy, year round (orange) means passion, year round (pink) means sweetness and gray, year round - Baby’s breath blooms suggest innocence, year round - Alstromeria blooms mean devotion year round - Calla Lily flowers suggest magnificent beauty, spring season - Daisies suggest romance as well as innocence, year round - Carnations dedicated love year round - Ivy blooms marriage and loyalty, year round - Myrtle blooms joy and happiness year round - Orchids love and splendor, year round - Stephanotis blooms marriage happiness, year round - The classic tulips passion and love, January to April - Zinnia blooms mean affection, year round A great way to pick on the correct bouquet flowers is to select the right florist and the easiest way to look for a good florist is to through the use of the word-of-mouth method. One of the unique wedding bouquet choices is a bouquet created of fruit. Yes, you’ve got me right, a fruit bouquet. Perhaps you thought about fruit bouquet would definitely be unique and interesting. However, the idea would not be the right look for your wedding. You’re probably thinking that a fruit bouquet is too much plain and silly. Surprisingly, a fruit bouquet can be fantastic. Keeping a little bouquet that is carefully crafted would absolutely be a terrific wedding bouquet which will totally be a chitchatting focus amongst your relatives and friends after the wedding rites. The magic is for you to not overstuff the bouquet of much fruit. The overloading of fruit would give a tacky bouquet look. A variety of fruits such as nectarines, passion fruits, strawberries, apples, kiwi, mandarins and apricots are best selections for a fruit bouquet. Make sure though that you pick on small fruits. Wrap fruits such as strawberries in a cellophane so that you won’t be worrying about getting stained. It is far tough to create a fruit bouquet and it’s absolutely some stuff that you should regard if you like something a bit cooler than a normal wedding flower bouquet for a wedding. Here’s the ridiculous but fun part, if you ever get hungry during the rites, you’ll readily have something to eat. Now, could you think of a nicer way to show your emotions than through flowers? Any wedding would be different without having flowers in it that’s for sure. Thanks for reading! Ceramics, Stone Carving & Clay Products - High Quality Arts To Find in Java

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

By Thorsten Neudeck In Central Java lies the city of Yogjakarta. The Special Region of Yogyakarta is a province of Indonesia on the island of Java. It is the only province in Indonesia that is still formally governed by a precolonial Sultanate. Here, hundreds and hundreds of small and large factories can be found, producing accessories, stone carving articles handmade of natural mountain stone (e.g. lava stone, limestone, sandstone) as well as clay & ceramic items, mainly clay pot or ceramics vases. There is a temple to be found in very close proximity to Yogjakarta: the ancient Buddhist stone temple of Borobudur, the oldest and largest Buddhist temple in the world. It was built to resemble a microcosm of the universe and its purpose was to provide a visual image of the teachings of the Buddha. Reliefs depicting the life of the Buddha cover the upper half of the main wall all around the first gallery of the monument, a total of 120 panels. These reliefs were carved to illustrate a text entitled the Lalitavistara, “The Unfolding of the Play.” In the period 600 AD to 800 AD there was a golden age of temple construction throughout India, Ceylon and South East Asia. It was a time when Hindu and Buddhist kingdoms flourished and men raised magnificent monuments to heaven in praise of their gods. In Yogjakarta, similar reliefs and much more (e.g. Sculptures, Lamps, Reliefs of Borobudur, Elephants, Statues, Vases, Buddhas, Lava stone, sand stone, limestone items, Garden & Landscaping items, Pillars, Wells & Fountains) are offered by the local craft shops, and buyers of the products will be impressed about the professional skills of the masons, and especially about the variety of stone and clay & ceramic products they are able to produce with their bare hands. The local craftsmen sit together in dusty rooms, or even under the blazing sun, and swing their hammers down to their chisels to form figures out of the bare stone blocks. They sweat together in hot clay factories, firing the ovens to harden the material, and color, sand and polish their precious products. One is tempted to just grab some items right now, as gracefully hand carved pieces can be seen everywhere. The international buyer in Yogjakarta is encouraged to purchase in bulk, otherwise the overall costs for both the seller and the buyer are too high. Regarding the packing and shipping of the products a simple but reliable system is in place: the fragile and sometimes quite large ceramic and stone products are wrapped and then a wooden frame is constructed to hold and protect the object during shipment. The items will then be sent north, to Javas port of Semarang, and from there being shipped to anywhere in the world. For more information on the natural stone, mountain stone and clay and ceramics products of Yogyakarta / Java / Indonesia visit http://teak-rustique.com/english.html and see the carved stone and clay & ceramics section. Lawn Care Tips - Six Easy Steps to a Great Lawn

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

By Hans Dekker What type of lawn care works best for you depends on the time and money you decide to put into your lawn. If your lawn is your hobby, you can spend thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of time on it. On the other side of the fence, if what you want is a low-maintenance green expanse that you can enjoy with family and friends, you’ve come to the right page! The best lawn care tip you can get is to start with a solid plan. 1. Do you need to plant grass? Do some research on the best seed for your area, where to buy it cheap, and when it’s available. Depending on where you live, you’ll plant either cool season or warm season grass. Cool season grass, planted in northern areas, is usually best planted in early fall, but if you missed planting then, plant it in the spring when soil temperatures reach 50 F. Warm season grass needs soil temps of 70F to thrive and is the choice for southern plantings. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you can plant warm season grass in the upper Midwest. Warm season grasses are bred to thrive in southern climates and are not winter hardy in the north. 2. Of course, you’ll keep new grass plantings moist, but once grass reaches a height of three inches, water it deeply once a week. A healthy lawn needs about an inch of water a week. When watering, remember to consider recent rainfalls. Shallow watering techniques keep grass from sinking the deep roots that your lawn needs to compete with deep-rooted weeds. 3. Do you already have a lawn? Aerate it in the spring while it’s still moist and before the spring rains are done. Aerating your lawn in the springtime gives microbes and other small life forms a breath of fresh air after winter. Aeration also makes new paths for drainage and keeps your lawn from becoming saturated. 4. A lot is written about lawn fertilizer and the big question is why? Grass is the most efficient user of nitrogen on earth! Feed your soil with nutrient rich compost and let your lawn get its nutrients the natural way. The more chemicals you use, the more you disturb the natural biological processes that convert organic matter into nutrients and the microbes and other small organisms that take natural care of your lawn. 5. Mow your grass high. A 2 to 3-inch high cut makes your lawn look fuller, feel softer, and helps keep it healthy. Taller grass shades pesky weed seeds and keeps them from getting established. In addition, a taller lawn is better able to absorb sunshine and better able to retain moisture, the two main contributors to a healthy lawn. 6. Enjoy your lawn. After all, isn’t that your main reason for having a yard?
